Default chrysler 8.25 27 spline changing to 29 spline

I have a 1992 cherokee laredo 4x4 w/ the chrysler 8.25 rearend. everything I have found says it is 27 spline axles for that year. I want to get a aussie locker for it, but they only make them 29 spline, so I was going to get 29 spline axles and the locker, but can I use the carrier thats in it now, or do I have to replace it also?? thanks in advance.....Charles

You need a new carrier. Find a 97+ in the JY and yank it. Gives you a spare set of spider gears too!

Carrier has the splines cut into it so it has to be specific for 27 or 29 splines.
