2001 cherokee started to shut off on me while driving yesterday. took it to my mechanic today and he could not come up with a conclusive answer. he had previously ran a check engine light that ive had for a few weeks now and it was a #3 misfire. i purchased a new coil pack but have yet to receive it in the mail. im thinking it might be the crankshaft sensor or computer that is going bad? please give me some input on this i really need to figure this out. thanks.

 

after it shuts off spark,fuel pressure .and injector pulse must be checked

 

what should i be looking for at those 3 things? i read the fuel pressure should be at 45psi is that right? it will crank but wont turn over unless i wait for a minute. my mechanic thinks that it could be a part that is heating up and then failing, which is why it will always start back up again after it cools down for a minute.

 

i would take it and get it checked for codes again all three things fuel pump, crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor are all suspect auto zone will do it for free

 

bad fuel pressure would be the pump,no spark crank sensor and no injector pulse would be the camshaft sensor

Check this fuse. Under the hood.

If that is blown, check the rear sensor wire.
