Default Cherokee Questions

I am new to the forums and I have found tons of information here, but I do have 2 questions.... I have a 1994 cherokee sport. I have a smell of gas coming from (i think) the rear area. The gas tank was replaced, both lines seem to be completely connected etc. I cant see a leak at any time. The jeep does need work, I just replaced the rocker panels, bearings, u joints, center console, and this weekend the carpeting. I have a slight oil leak (3-4 drops a night) from somewhere around the oil filter I know the valve cover gasket should be replaced, but this leak is saturating the filter, and the entire oil pan, i am not so concerned with it as I am the gas smell, as I can add a splash of oil every now and then. Any ideas on the gas smell, I do have any exhaust leak on the manifold, but this isnt exhause smell, it is straight gas.

Also, after my ranting, will grand cherokee seats fit in the cherokee? I found a nice set of leather grand cherokee seats and would love to swap them.

Thanks for the reply, I will check that out. I have to grab a haynes manual for this model jeep. Anyone know about the seats?
Also the jeep vibrates in the rear when I hit 45-50 mph, it does it when i am on the accelerator or off, thinking maybe u joint?

Might be one of the vent hoses on top of the tank. Mine fell off and I would get a gas smell when I put gas in it

Thanks again for the replies, I think I figured out two problems, the gas tank was put on without a seal where the sendiong unit/pump meet the tank, so i have to try and find one, no luck so far.... the vibration it looks like the U clamp/bracket that holds the rear from moving is broken/loose so I will have that fixed Asap...

Now anyone know if seats from a grand cherokee will fit in the cherokee? Witha little adjustment of course

you should be able to get that seal at autozone, if not try some place where the counter guys actually know parts.

the system might be out of timing allowing it to run rich.. the comment is a little above my pay scale (80% sure its a possibility)

and as for the oil leak.. maybe a rear main seal?

Buddy over on NAXJA told me that they will work. He doesn't even mention changing seat brackets.
