Default cherokee oil filter adapter orings

I replaced the big O ring on my 92 Cherokee leaking oil filter adapter today
I bought O ring kit dorman #82560 DO NOT BUY THIS PACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

first off the new orings are round, not flat like the OE (not sure that matters tho)

and more importantly only the large O ring was the right size
the two for the torx/alan/bolt are not the same as any oring in this pack
I had to reuse the old orings on the bolt! WTF!!
I bought this pack based off of the experience of other people on this forum but IT IS NOT RIGHT!

just want to let anyone who is replacing theres know so they don't make the same mistake i did!

Yep, had the exact same experience as well. Worked out though 1.5 years ago and no leak.

And I'll add that Mopar PN 4720363 with 3 O-rings did not fit my 91. I was only able to use the large o ring which was round; but it did stop most of my oil leak.
I'll get new part numbers when I pull it back down and match up 3 aftermarket o-rings.

I found the same issue on the Dorma/HELP assortment pack on my 1988 with 5/8 hex bolt. pic of orig o-rings attached.

I sent Dorman the email below, maybe they'll get it.

FYI-1, My dealer wanted $6 a piece for the three rings = $18, though they offered to do it for me for $50 incl parts.

FYI-2, I ended up buying FEL-PRO Part # 70301 for the large o-ring ($2) and just using o-rings from the part house box-o-rings ($0.70 each)

Dear Dorman,

Just wanted to let you know that the item 82560 you advertise as fitting an 1987 – 2006? 4L Jeep is missing the middle size o-ring that is required for my 1988 jeep. There is no close size even listed on the packaging so its not like the required o-ring just missed making it in the package. pic of original o-rigs attached.

BTW, seems like I am not the only one who noticed this - https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/che...-orings-69413/

Thanks,

Andrew

With parts in hand, It should take 10 minutes. I had the 5/8" bolt. I could imagine the torx bolt might take longer.

I did not drain all oil. I left oil filter on when removing bolt. I would recommend taking the oil filter off first and then removing bolt. I had to replenish about 1/2 quart after the procedure.

When I did mine most people were saying they got them from the dealership. I got all 3 rings for 5 dollars.

tried that, In Albuquerque only two dealers, one was $18, the other was $24.

Guess there is nothing like retail price consistency in the dealer network.

Just curious, but were the O-Rings in stock or were they special ordered?
