I was bought a Jeep Cherokee as a graduation gift and my uncle asked to look at it the day after and he told me I need a new transmission and the current one should get replaced urgently and also I should get new muffler bearings because they're currently rubbing against the starter resevoir but thats not something that needs to be fixed right away but should be done because it could cause it to run loud and if gone unrepaired long enough could cause it to have issues with starting
I would like to know how much this would cost and how long the repairs will take and if they're something I can do myself
I really appreciate any help and tips and anything you can do thanks

Lol, your uncle is just pulling your leg. Muffler bearings are a classic joke (They don't exist) and there is no such thing as a starter reservoir. And as far as the transmission goes I'd double check to make sure he isn't just trying to scare you as a joke.
If you want to turn the joke around on your uncle, send him the link below and tell him you already ordered these muffler bearings and want to know if he thinks they are any good. They list blinker fluid on that site also, so tell him you added that to your order and are thinking of upgrading to one of the O pipes for your exhaust.

Is there an easy way to check if he was serious about the transmission and if so how would I do that or would I need to bring it in to a mechanic for them to check

Well first, you could call or talk to your uncle and ask him if he was serious.
Also, you didnt tell us what is wrong with your transmission, so.......
You need to help yourself before we can even begin to help you.
If you indeed fell for the muffler bearings joke, it shows your inexperience. I would suggest to start doing some self education and research if you plan on working on your Jeep. Everyone has to start somewhere. Good luck.
Yeah, what prompted him to say that about the transmission? Is it doing something it shouldn't? Or not doing something it should? Or doing something it shouldn't do in public?

Not sure if you saw my reply to the post you made in the other thread but, check the fluid first. MAKE SURE it's DEX/MERC fluid and it's red. In fact, I would just go ahead and drain the fluid and put DEX/MERC in it. You're not going to be able to tell if it's DEX/MERC or ATF+4. There was a TSB that went out in the early 2000s that said to use ATF+4 in all chrysler transmissions.... the problem is, the AW4 is NOT a chrysler transmission.
As it was told to me, it's really hard to kill an AW4. Replace the fluid, replace or clean the neutral safety switch (NSS), and if it's not shifting through the gears - replace the transmission control unit (TCU).
The transmission that's in my Jeep right now is a transmission that I was told was bad from the person I bought the parts Jeeps from. I replaced the fluid and put the transmission in my Jeep.... been driving it back and forth to work every day since.... and that was over a year ago.
