I am in the process of converting my 94 r-12 ac to r-134a.
My old r-12 drier connector has two prongs on it like an extension cord.
The r-134a drier I pulled from a 94 has smaller prongs on the inside that are more like the tps or temp sensors.
I am buying all new hoses and it appears that they will thread on to either style.
Anyway,
Should I splice in the r-134a connector or use the older style drier? Thanks

The dryer in an AC system does just that, it dries. There is a desiccant in it to absorb any moisture introduced to the system during final assembly. The LAST component to get unboxed and bolted up is the dryer. Keep it sealed until you are ready to bolt it up and purge the system.

the prongs you are talking about are the pins inside the low pressure switch, you can un screw that switch from the old drier on the vehicle and put it on the new drier...that way there is no need to splice a different connector to make it work...also the low pressure switch can be replaced whether the system is charged or not because of the tire like valve in the drier.
