Default Checking torque converter bolts tomorrow

So tomorrow ive got a day planned to spend with my new xj! Theres a knocking sound comming from the bell housing. Its not crazy loud or anything but its noticible. Not as loud as a bad cat converter. I suspect its from the torque converter bolts being loose and i am praying that its not a cracked flex plate. Also when i was under there i noticed some green coolant fluid on the inspection plate. it wasent dripping or anything but it was there. i have a few questions.

1) should i use blue or red loctite?

2) Do the bolts HAVE to be torqued to spec or can i justguestimate? I dont have a torque wrench and i dont want to have to rent 1 if i dont have to. And if they do need to be torqued to spec what are the specs?

3) What do you guys think the knocking is from?
