Unhappy checked battery, altinator, starter and NSS still can't get her to start.

i have a 97 cherokee, its automatic 4.0. i noticed it was having a hard time starting on monday and on tuesday morning it wouldn't turnover at all. i charged the battery with no problems, i have power thru out the vehicle. i replaced the altinator(under a warrenty) i had the starter checked it failed. i replaced it. i started reading your forum and heard about taking off the NSS and cleaning it, did that. None of it made a difference. i still do not hear the starter click whe i turn the key, did i get sold a bum starter or am i missing something? thanks for the help.

Josh

Check to be sure your NSS is lined up properly. In reverse, your back up lights should come on. If not, with shifter in reverse, loosen and adjust the NSS until the lights come on.
*A bad new starter is unlikely, but it happens.. Test it by shorting the connections on the solenoid (big battery to little ignition wire)
*Ruling out the NSS and the starter, the ignition switch is the next likely suspect. Post what you find out

You can also try putting it in neutral and see if it will start also just try moving it around to see if it will start.

One of the starters wires could be fried or need a new connection. If the starter isn't cranking and its not the NSS then it almost HAS to be the something with the starter.

Do u have reverse lights wen u put it in reverse
Start checking your small terminal wire ist runs close to the block could be grounding out
But first of all do as stated above with the key in the run position bridge the 2 contacts together and your starter should run if it's getting power right from the battery if it doesn't crank have your starter tested again even tho it's new
Check your grounds also and starter relay
