Exclamation The CPS problem

I need help!!! I have a '90 XJ Laredo which is a tad under the weather lately. I was having issues with the CPS and have replaced it... many times. So after the 3rd sensor I have replaced in the last 4 months, I am calling on the jeep community to help me find out WHY my CPS keeps giving up the ghost. It seems to be a common problem and i would like to solve this mystery before I lose faith. I love my Jeep, but I can't afford to keep feeding it new sensors. At this point, I am faced with either fixing the real problem or selling the car. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sure, it runs fine... for a while. So, I understand I have an electrical problem, the bigger problem is I don't know much about electrical systems. What do you recommend I check/do? Today when it died again, I replaced the sensor and it started up. Then, about 200 yards later, it died. Something must be seriously wrong. Thanks for the input.

To test the CPS, near the rear of intake manifold, disconnect the sensor harness connector from the main wiring harness. Place an ohmmeter across terminals B and C.
Ohmmeter should be set to 1K-to-10K scale for this test. The meter reading should be open (no resistance). Replace the sensor if a low resistance is indicated.

this will save you the guess work on if just you moving the wires while replacing is making the difference or if its actually burning them up...
