Check engine light is open

When I will make reset to the ECU of my XJ the check engine light which now is open, will it close ?

If you have a check engine light that is currently ON, you need to retrieve the codes from the computer to see what circuit needs further diagnosis. Just resetting the electrical system can turn off the check engine light momentarily, but as soon as the vehicle is running again and sees the same conditions, the check engine light will again be illuminated.

For a 99, you will need either a scan tool or a code reader. Post the EXACT code(s) here for comment.
