Default check engine light help!!

Ok i have a 96 cherokee 4.0L and i need an inspection really bad its almost a year over do lol and i cant get an inspection with this code i cleared all the other codes now im down to the last one an evap code the code is p0443 evap purge control now the first thing you would think of is the evap purge control valve solinoid which i just but a brand new one in code stayed and didnt go away what else could it be? ive check almost everything i could think of and help would be great

Did u clear the P0443 after the new solenoid install or did the code return after the new solenoid install? From what I gather, the problem needs to be fixed AND the code cleared to turn off the CEL immediately. Otherwise, if the problem is fixed, but the code not cleared (to turn off the CEL), it will take X number of engine starts/trip cycles before the CEL will turn off ......not positive though.

yes i cleared the codes after i put it in with a snap-on scanner and turned off and started it about 10times and drove about 10miles i believe you need to drive 25miles? to clear the code from the system

anyone else have any ideas i dont know what else to check i just drove on it some more and had it idleing for about a halfhour
