Check engine light does not come on at all during systems check ( turning ignition sw

In my 95' grand cherokee limited 4.0L, I cant get the check engine light to illuminate when inserting key in ignition switch and trying to crank vehicle!! I've checked all fuses and relays, they are good. I want to check OBD1 fault codes but can't due to my light not working. Any ideas or experiences on this issue?????

So it does not light up at all?
My first guess would be a burned out bulb if so.
But this is the Cherokee XJ section and you might get better
answers in the Grand Cherokee ZJ section so.......
