Default check engine light ??

Hey guys I checked the code and it says the possibliites are coolant level is low or the coolant senor is bad. Very weird as i changed the power steering pump, before that i did not have the check engine light. Im sure the coolant lvl is not low as i checked that as well.

Question is, is there only one sensor in front for the coolant ? or are their more, because i have unplugged it and plugged it back in but its still not working. How can i check if its the sensor thats bad ?

thanks.

Clear the code and see if CEL comes back on. Unplugging things will set off CEL off and will make it hard to know what the real culprit is.

It would be helpful to know what year XJ and the exact code number(s). I don't think there is a code for coolant level but there is a code for coolant temp too low, too long. Make sure u didn't damage/break the sensor/connector in the t-stat cover....it's close to the p/s pump and could have been damaged. What's not working after u unplugged it and plugged it back in?

How do u know it's low on compression and how do u know it's caused by a valve or seat?

Always post the EXACT code or codes. Describing the code can lead to confusion and inaccurate replies.

A dry to wet compression test will only give u an idea of how the rings are/are not sealing to the cylinder walls. Did u remove all spark plugs and hold throttle wide open when doing the compression test?

U've got to do a cylinder leak down test to tell anything about valves/seats/head gasket condition.

^ ah okay but I mean either way ima have to get it fixed as its low compression. What im really wondering is it something I can fix myself ? Because if I got to give it to the shop then theres no point of doing the leak test, since they are gonna have to figure out whats up.
