Default check engine code help p0700 and p0705

My CEL is on and its throwing p0700 and p0705. I want to think that is is the nss but my reverse lights are working and i can start in both park and neutral. wondering what other people have had experience and or advise for this problem.

Those two codes together most times are related to the neutral safety switch.

This is the most likely cause, even though your reverse lights work. The reverse lights are but one small part of that circuit.

I just re-read this. Being able to start in neutral is another red flag for the neutral safety switch.

You could try refurbishing it; sometimes that restores full function. No guarantee but this switch is kind of spendy so most guys try it.

Here is a link on the "how-to".

i had the same codes. Refurbished my nss. didn't clear. replaced with dealership's nss. didn't clear. had the dealership reinstall and adjust switch. didn't clear. they told me it was something else somewhere. i'm guessing something small since driveability is the same as before. i have a 99 xj sport. i've cleaned all connections to pcm and tcm and nss. any ideas at all? i dont want to have to go back to the dealership to have them dive under my hood for days?
