I'm gonna clean it more and see whats on the casting, but I'm still gonna yank it and put something stronger under it.

Rear steer Hugh....I hadn't considered that one yet, but it sounds like fun!

As for the power plant I have this old thing sittin around and I was thinking about dropin it in for a change of pace...It puts out about 300 horse and runs as smooth as silk can anyone guess what it is??????

JUST KIDDING GUYS!!!! It's a V12 out of my BMW all ready to slide on in...if I ever take the time.
I'd actually like to stay with the 4.0 & do a stroker, Hesco’s machining work produced a 4.6L motor with 269 HP and a whooping 339 ft/lbs @3200 RPM on their dyno and its smog legal. The stock computer is kept and it will work fine on regular unleaded fuel. I could more radical but then more things break!!!

What would you put in it???

Keep in mind on the XJ it is very hard to find enough room for cooling, therefore it is very hard to keep bigger motors cooler.
