When accelerating does it just stop and become gutless? Also from napa it was 100 for just the pump ( bosch ) and like 6 bucks for a pick up screen and yes I highly suggest u change it as well, its a filter that goes on the end of your pump,
Autozone has it for 69 but I don't know the brand

Once you do this the pressure is relieved from the system without having to spill anything from the fuel rail. This is the proper procedure for both my 04 F150 and my Accord. I was always under the assumption this was the recommended way for most vehicles.

pulling the relay with the engine running kills the fuel pump. the fuel rail has approximately 45psi fuel pressure, once the fuel pump stops running the engine can only run until the pressure in the fuel rail is depleted. you can bleed off pressure at the shradder valve on the rail, but fuel will spray all over the manifold until the pressure is gone.

If the motor is stone cold and you do not mind the gas smell coming in for a few days, do the schrader valve. If not, do the relay. Shut it off when it starts to die. Let the exhaust cool before starting on the fuel lines. There may be a little pressure still in the lines, so cover them with a rag as you remove them.
