Default ol'blue need help please

I have a couple of things that I need to fix on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I got a quote from a couple of different repair shops, but it is way out of my price range so I am going to attempt it myself.
Here is what I need and I am hoping you can help:
1. passenger side window needs repair. When you try to put the window up/down, you can hear it trying, but the window does nothing. In fact, I have had to rig it to stay up or it would slide down.
2. I have had the a/c serviced and no leaks have been found. The air will blow cold for a couple of weeks and then go hot. I am thinking that I either need to replace the compressor or the evaporator. I found some useful info about the compressor and I am going to check and see if it's working today.
Could you please pm me anything you think I may need to fix my Jeep? Thanks a million!

I always see people talking about how much of a pain this job is to do in a 97+ Jeep. What about a '91 XJ? I'm thinking I need to head down this path as well... not looking forward to it if it's as bad as everyone says.

I'm new in the forum and unfortunately I am having evaporator issues as well. I try to do my own work, but I'm flying blind on this one. I would appreciate any advice or instructions that one could offer! Thank You.
