Does everything look normal? I think the latch is in good shape but it does not lock it slides back and forth side to side. I bought it this way and it has been bugging me. I unbolted the bucket and took the latch off in this pic so you can see both parts better, it bolts inside the console just fine.

The latch finger is missing. Should look like this:

are you kidding me? i payed $25 for the new latch from a website and they sent me one that was broke just like mine. I figured it was some part that was not the latch lid because the broken one they sent me was just like mine.

Oem console latch for 97-01

I stole the pic from an Ebay listing. The seller wants way too much... $35 for a used one! The link Ryan posted has them for half that. New.
Or you could visit the scrapyard...probably a $2 pick and pull thing.
