Default CEL code clearing question

I had my NSS bypassed with caused the CEL to come on. Finally got around to replacing the NSS today. I took the negative battery cable off while doing the work. Got the new one on and everything is great. CEL has stayed off so far, but I will be running this through NJ inspection soon. Will the computer store the code and thus failing inspection or has the code been cleared with the negative battery terminal pull? Will I need to clear the codes with a code reader? Thanks!

I was just reading ... somewhere on this board..

When you take the negative off the battery, also take off the positive.

then hold both leads together for 10 seconds.. this drains the memory
