Does anyone know why that is lifted like that? Is it supposed to be like that? I have a leak and I believe it only leaks when the engine is running or hot. I check my oil daily and I'm not seeing a significant loss there and my tranny juice looks good.

it looks like your rear main is causing that leak...unless oil is spraying back there from your filter housing or valve cover....looks exactly like mine(minus the bent out peice) i've been trying to track my leak down too, mine also only leaks while or for a little bit after it's been run
Looks like somebody pryed it open to have a peek at the leak.
Its really not a big job to pull the tranny and replace it, if done properly you will never have to do it again

I'm having the same problem. I have a leak and cant seem to find it. So far I replaced the oil pan gasket and O rings and cracked oil filter housing so my next is valve cover gasket and any ideas anyone else has. The oil only leaks when I get over 65mph then it sprays all over the exhaust and tons of smoke comes out behind me ARRGGHH...Tj

All you need is the UV dye and a black light, just pour it in then leave it for a day or so (with driving) then get under it with the black light and you will see the source of the leak glowing like the sun!, make sure you get the correct type, you can do this with motor oil, trans, coolant and a/c.
Im sure you can buy the dye at Napa and dare I say it AAAArrggghh Autozone

I have about the same leak problem. I replaced the oil pan cause someone had tried welding mine from a crack in it near the plug - i doubt that's your problem. After I replaced that I still had the leak but not as bad. I eventually got tired of chasing it. I lose about a 1/2 a quart every 1500 miles between oil changes. It's a little annoying and I don't park it on the drive way to prevent oil spots but I don't see paying to have the rear seal replaced. 300 dollars to fix the leak accord to most places - 60 for the seal the rest is labor costs - I can buy over 100 quarts of oil to top it off. At that rate i should go ahead and replace it so i can break even in 33 years.

I had the exact same problem with my 2000, I bought it right before I deployed, drove around town and everything was fine. Drove down the interstate and thought I had blown my engine. While I was gone I had my front and rear main seal replaced along with the oil pan gasket. It took care of the oil spray but I still get the slow leak after turn off. Cost me about 200 to get the whole thing done. Good luck.
