My Jeep is a 1995 Cherokee with a 4.0 inline 6 cylinder
I just replaced the timing gear and cam gear and the chain my Jeep had jumped time so I put in another one. Since I done this an put it back together now it turns over and coughs through the throttle body like its out of time again.
I done everything by the book but it still won't fire right. Wondering if I done something wrong I had to put the engine back in time it was a 180° out of time but now its at 0° or 2° after but not getting it to fire right.
Can someone shed some light on this an maybe help me get it fixed. Wondering if the cam sensor might have went out causing it to make it back fire through the throttle body.

Doesn'r anybody know anything about Jeeps I ask a question and nobody seems to want to answer any questions about jeeps. Whats the sense in having a website if nobody pays attention to the topic's anymore.

I have threads pleading for help from years ago that never got answered.... You only waited days.... I understand this is a big deal for you, but it's not a big deal for the people online. One of these saintly individuals who may posses the knowledge you need will come by(when they feel like it) and may help you with your issues, but unless your offering payment, no one is rushing to your side. If you are offering payment, offer it to a local mechanic who can physically diagnose your issues.
It sounds like your motor is out of timing.

1.Have you confirmed you first have TDC on Cyl1? Are you sure that it's not 180° out?
2.At TDC both valves should be tightly closed, have you checked?
3.Whichever cylinder is NEXT IN THE FIRING ORDER should have the intake valve open and the exhaust shut, this means you should be able to wiggle/spin the pushrod between the rocker and the valve.
If step 3 is wrong then you are out of time. the amount of damage caused can not be evaluated without removing the head and inspecting all the parts.
A tip for next time - a few zip ties will lock the chain to the rollers and they can't move. When your all done just remove the zip ties. Also some marking paint/marker for future alignment.

Are there any check engine light codes? i'd be curious if the timing chain is off? Otherwise physically re-setting up the distributor. Its easy to look at a task that has been done and just dismiss it as "ive already done that correctly"
Physically going over the tasks and proving you've done it correctly would be a good idea.
