Lol thanks ya type error, thank you, it’s throwning a lean code and it’s rattling but just going through the motions, I’m going to change the sensors first and see what happens, it needs to be smogged. Po171

In CA, in theory you have to buy one with a CARB number on it. You will have to buy one at an exhust shop or at an auto parts store

I bought mine from these folks, note the 20% online coupon on page header
From what I gather, your jeep might only require one catalyst.
I have a earlier jeep, only one catalysr but since I live in commiefornia it is over $900 more than the stock normal cat. Early jeep also have only one oxygen sensor
You are able to get away with a normal cat if it appears to be old from the days before the california only cat was required. An old used working cat should be ok too, If you can find one. unfortunately the state has made it illegal for the wreckers to sell used cats ( but private party sales are ok) But a shiny new looking cat will prompt them to assume it is new and then it MUST be a california style, even if your jeep is a 49 state factory model. Never volenteer to the smog tech that you installed a new cat, as that will prompt them to fail your jeep unless you have a california cat.
With the state deciding to not jail criminals theft is rampant. VOTE DIFFERENTLY!!!
Two have been stolen on my street. A friend of mine had two stolen from the same car over the course of less than a year. I wonder if some people are simply straight piping it after being fed up with theft. Dirty air may be a result of soft on crime policies, in addition to more theft. This harms the less well to do the most, so much for that equity crap the politicians preach out here. I have been lucky so far, I also gaurd my stuff with a shotgun, and that to the state is trying to make illegal. Anyway off my soap box.
If you get a california cat, MAKE SURE the serial number certification is shown under the cat, not on top where it cannot be seen Friend of mine had a subaru, had to get a new cat, shop installed it with the number facing the floor board, the smog tech then could not read the number and failed him for that! Tech suggested either cutting cat off (it was weld on) and turning it around or cutting hole in floor. No space for a mirror to read the number. He went to other smog shop that passed him without looking at number. Then he sold the subaru.
Also a selection here, nut I dont see a 97 california model listed...
