Cant turn ignition key to "off" due to shifter position?

Cant turn ignition key to "off" due to shifter position?

Cant turn ignition key to "off" position unless I push forward on gear selector? I put it into park but it's like it's still in reverse unless i give it a little extra push forward, then i can rotate the key to the off position. How to remedy? Shift linkage? It's an automatic. Thx

Its an interlock that goes from teh shifter to the steering column. If I find a writeup (I saw one somewhere...) ill post it.

Are you sure it's in park? Sometimes the lable for the gears moves down or up and when the red dot hits one gear your actually in another. It fooled me once I thought my drive didn't work but it worked in 3 turns out I was in N
