Default Can't get the Alternator out....

Hey this is my first post, So I hope I put it in the correct section and everything...

Anyway, I have been working on getting the alternator off with my neighbor and we got all the bolts off and it is completly loose. I just can't get it out of the car. There seems to be something blocking it from coming up and out, and/or down and out.

Can anyone help?

Oh yeah, it's a 92 jeep cherokee Laredo.

Remove the fan (4 10mm bolts if I remember right) and pull the alt out from the bottom.

Assuming this is a 4.0....

Yeah it is a 4.0. That is what I was thinking, my neighbor just says he doesnt like messing with fans. But if that's what needs to be done than we will figure something out. Thanks highroller.

when i pulled mine i took the battery and the battery box out and then just pull it up from the top you may have to push on the A/C lines a little but it wont hurt them and it goes back in alot easier then it comes out lol

I noticed that if I pulled from the top it seemed like it would budge, I just did not want to mess up that A/C line. I will try that first. Thanks!

I put a 2 foot piece of 2x4 under the oil pan and carefully lifted the engine an inch or so with a small floor jack. Alternator was able to be squeezed around the frame rail then.

u have to unbolt the bracket that the alt is bolted to then it should come right out the bottom.

yes their are two 14 or 15mm bolts on the side of the bracket and then two kinda bolt and nut combination screws to take out ( these are on the front of the alternator where you took a metal kinda "L" shaped peace off

it's not that hard, unless mine's just easy.
it takes a bit of finniking, kinda like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, but with patience, it has always worked for me.
just keep turning it and it should just drop out the bottom.
