Default Can I use a remote start?

My jeep almost never starts on the first turn. Usually, I have to turn it twice in order for it to start. I've been told probably fuel pump but that's a different thread. My question is, is it possible to install a remote start with maybe a setting that make its turn twice to make sure it starts? I've never had one so I don't know what the remote starts are capable of.

I installed remote starts on many cars/jeeps/trucks for over 4 years. as long as they are fuel injected it can be done!! i currently have one on my 94 and it takes a bit for the truck to fire. heck typically it fires quicker with the remote start.

My remote start will try twice. Just ask the guy you buy it from if yours has that option.

Ya man harper woods. But I'm not even sure if that's what the problem is. Never really even bothered to troubleshoot it. Jeep starts every time, just after 2 turns so it was never a problem. Plus fuel pumps are a PITA so I'll wait till its totally done.

No worries. Im in Ann Arbor so its not that far. You could always run a check valve in the fuel line, its a quick and easy fix.

Remote start was the best mod ever. Nothing like warming the XJ up before getting in it during the winter.

You can go for a remote start but before everything works well, you need to make sure that the fuel line is all good...

I've been thinking about remote start but i have a manual and i witnessed my buddy remote start his ranger while its in gear and it drove into his J10. I laughed my butt off but it sucked for him.

You could also look into a block heater, which really helps. It'll save money on fuel as well.

I'm pretty sure you aren't suppose to install a remote start on a manual vehicle. At least shops won't do it. You have to bypass the clutch safety switch, and thats a big no-no.

Then a previous owner disabled it. The OP has a 98, which will have one, and your truck should have one as well.

Rem starts usually attempt to start 3 times with a 20 second or so pause in between cranking. Also, a crank time setting is adjustable usually giving you .4 to 4 seconds of cranking time. On my renix, I had it set to like 3.5 seconds and it was just right

I had one on my 90, that took about five seconds to start up. The remote start was a kind that would crank for a second, pause for five, crank for two seconds, pause for five etc. until it started. Sometimes the remote start would cancel and I would have to hit the button again. It worked decent overall and was nice in the winter but I would not install one on a manual, it only takes once to forget it was in gear and it wrecks itself

Threre is nothing wrong with Remote Starter's in manual vehicles, my shop installs all the time, just need to take precautions, First, install a "manual" Remote Starter, Second interface into safety equipment, it's a PITA, but safety, like parking brake or Clutch switch, then the Remote Starter will only engage if all things are in place. No biggie. X2 on fuel pump, gonna do one in buddies 95xj, next weekend, my 98 is still ok for now!
