Can i run E85 on my Cherokee?
Interesting. I just asked the guys who were going to rebuild the valves, and they don't seem to find any. The valves seem to be as good as new.
It may have to do with the blend of E85. It is my understanding that E85 can be up to 85% ethanol, but many times is much less.
I used ethanol regularly for about 20K (from 90K to 110K), although I would say that only filled up with straight E85 for about 25% of those miles. The rest was mostly a 50-50 blend with regular gas.
Perhaps the head gasket was already faulty, and it gave up before the valves did...

Dude, thank you for reposting this.
Every time I drive by a pile of trees and stumps at the edge of a field and know they're going to put more corn in for our ethanol plant my blood boils.
I'm having trouble figuring out which moronic empty political gesture is worse for our country...ethanol, the bank bailout, Obamacare, the "Stimulus", or financial "reform". It's a toss-up...but seeing thousands of acres of trees destroyed - and literally burned in the fields - is just about more than I can stand.
I wouldn't burn ethanol if it was free.
