the intake manifold changed in 1999. Nothing changed after that. It's all the same from 1999 and up.Originally Posted by extrashaky
Regarding the intake manifold, be sure you get the curvy one from a 1999 or later 4.0L. There was a different manifold up to '98, a difference you can easily see by looking at it. In '99 they made a drastic change in the way the air flows through it and refined it further in 2000. So the '99 will work, but a 2000+ is better. Keep in mind you can also get this manifold off some WJs and other Jeeps with the 4.0L from 1999 on.
good ol' autozone had the right intake... I don't know if I shared that or not..
i place more value on time than money, in many cases. i wouldn't have had the time to do this later in that week, unless i made it- which would cost me more than i lost buying a new intake over the bone yards... $200 vs. $50... I spent a bengi and a half more than i had to spend, but i got it done last weekend, when i ain't gettin paid. so... push, at worst.
i DID take that thing with me, though... and plopped it right on the counter to compare, before i dropped a dime. i wish i had done that with the lower rad hose, too- because they didn't give me the right one... the dude who sold it to me was issued to this world grade A super large, so for his benefit i made the one i bought work... watching him ascend that ladder again- though the first time was entertaining- didn't seem the kind thing to do.
I'll be watching this temperature thing closely. I wonder how many XJ users would see a temperature at the stats rating if they vacuumed their systems? that thing held onto air like it was gold or something... or maybe there is a tiny and very troublesome troll in there that needs it to breathe... I'll let y'all know if body parts and pieces start to show up in the puke bottle.

Is it? I swear I remember one of the old guys on this board saying that there were minor changes from '99 to '00. Consider me corrected.Originally Posted by XJwonders
