ok really? you guys are freaking out about nothing. This is CF the FRIENDLY forum. be nice its not your rig so dont diss it cause i bet at one point or another youve did something other people didnt like and you just shrugged it off. BUT....on an added note, why not do a 4wd swap? not hard to do and its all bolt on, so before you get done IMO i would do a 4wd swap. ALTHOUGH theres nothing wrong with a 2wd jeep...im sporting one

i actually really like his lift and idea i would run 33/35's on it tho and make it a rally runner(as long as it was a strait line because High Center Gravity + Rally Speed = flops and flips but i like it! its something different that you dont see often

thanks keith two tone and 96 xj for the nice words,as you can see ive gotten mixed reviews on my jeep.i have considered a 4wd conversion, but i wanted to do the lift first.im probably going to end up putting 37 or 38 goodyear mtr's on it considering i can get them cheap.i dont really pay attention to the negative comments cuz everywhere i go people all say good things about the idea and the setup.the only thing they say is i need bigger tires cuz it does look goofy the way it is

you might want to run front and rear sway bars because with that much lift when you go around coners it will feel like your rideing a wet noodle. the FIRST THING TO DO IS BRACE THE FRAME FOR THE STEERING BOX or you will rip it right of the frame.

I've seen 52" matched with Unimog axles under an XJ. Why not 42"?
It will pretty much destroy itself.

See more here.

Man jus by hearing this comment i would of lifted it two more inches to **** some people off lol.Dont worry about the bashing, some people just so bored at home they have nothing to do but to criticize. But you do need to pay attention to the comments about beefing up the steering etc. Reason is it dont matter how tall you go just make sure its safe for you and others on the street. Other than that i wouldnt have a problem with it.If its only for the street keep it two wheel drive brotha. The reason your building this thing is not so you can out wheel other jeeps in some competitions, Its so it can turn heads, stand out, be different, and one of a kind.Pssshhhhh i say go for it jus show some pics of that bad boy.

I didn't read all of this. Mostly cause it sounds like a few people are just hatters. 1 an xj isn't a show worthy cobra its for off road function some of you seam lost 2 the name of the game is ground clearance that means big tiers. Well I guess 2 is all I got but I hope you get my point. My next mod after a finish relocating my radiator is full with 3/4 ton 44 and 60 I have them just not time. I plain to run 36-40s with 6in of lift. Ground clearance, stability, and low center of gravity are my goals. Seams like comin sense to me. Maybe I'm odd. Mine is not a dd has a cage and a chop top and the new axles has 410 gears (wish they were deeper) and detroits (the front one needs to go). I just wanted to voice my support. I think 12in is a little high but everyone builds different. Don't pay any mind to people who are afraid of there own shadows. Or bolt on dummies. You want to build a beast then hell ya!

Like I said before everyone is different so go for it and lets see her when your done. I really would consider beefing everything up though and so big sway bars front and rear.

All I have to say is that there is no way that rides like stock. I have only 3" of lift, and it doesn't ride anything like my dads stocker.

12" of lift - 4.5" drop brackets = 7.5" lift with short arms. Just because the maker of the CA's said they work up to 8" of lift, doesn't mean they should be used for that much, thats why long arms are made.

That said, if you long arm it, get D60's/14bolt, and plenty of frame stiffening, then it will be a tippy beast that you might want a minimal roll cage for.
