Just put in a new radiator.. everything went great and no issues.. well the other day i notices some darker oil lookin fluid under the jeep.. so i checked it out and the whole dr side of the jeep is covered underneath. turns out where my tranny cooler line has the quick disconnect thing on the end, its leaking quite a bit of fluid there, where it slides on.. its prob just a seal but idk where to get one.
my question is can i snip the metal end off the line and slide it up on the metal connector like a normal hose and use a hose clamp. the little elbow piece of tubing is flared on one end so i think it would work unless the hose is to big.. i mentioned to dad and he thinks it has the quick connector because of the pressure and says my idea is good but wont work because of that.
please help im ready to go try to fix this now
thanks a bunch, Kegan

I read here a lot about people having the same problem. I think the consensus is that if you have to, it can be done. Use double clamps and if you can manage to flare the end of the steel line just a little, all the better.

Patience, grasshopper...
I've never heard of it leaking at the quick connect fitting, but I suppose it's possible...
Probably too late, but I'd try removing the lower tranny cooler fitting on the radiator, wrapping it in a couple layers of teflon, and putting it back in before I snipped the fitting - when I put in my new rad, this is where my leak was. I thought it was a crack in the cooler, because the lower fitting is a brass flare fitting (really soft, usually doesn't require anything to make a good seal - your hard brake lines have brass flare fittings).
The line is pressurized a little, but as long as you get a good seal past that ridge, you should be okay - I've heard of others doing the same.

That is usallay a problem on the lower rad hose.Happens all the time,by all means cut it off and replace with rubber tranny line and clamps.8-10 p.s.i I beleive might be a bit more on the newer trans than an older one say a 727 or 904.

do a nice clean job and you'll have nice clean results. I've done this professional many times, that may just be the way your fav shop would do it anyway.
