That would be your purge solenoid for your EVAP system... and it's supposed to make a clicking sound.



I had the same question a few days ago because I'm having some problems with my evap system and I thought the clicking was abnormal haha

 

Hmmmm. I guess I just never noticed it until yesterday...

 

lol...I just eyeballed that under my hood yesterday too... I just kinda shrugged my shoulders and said "whatever"

yes, it does make an annoyingly loud clicking noise when the engine is running and the hood is up...I thought it was a knock at first and then I took a closer look and was like wtf is this?! thank god for cherokeeforum.com!

 

yea i used to think that was one of my lifters ticking in my tj- but i found out its part of the evap system. lol

 

we riped out of a ranger it still runs great
