Caliper bolt size for '99 XJ?

Last week I took my '99 XJ to Lowes to pick up a few things, then suddenly on the way home I started getting vibration and pulsing in the brake pedal and steering wheel when applying the brakes. Nursed it home and parked it. Today I took it for a test drive and the problem was no longer there.

I'm always suspicious when something appears to "fix itself" so I crawled underneath to take a look and found the lower caliper bolt missing on the left front caliper. (The brakes don't have many miles on them, but I didn't do the last brake job. I had the Jeep into a muffler shop for a cat-back exhaust, and since the pads were low I had them install new pads and rotors while it was on the lift.) At this point I don't know for sure if the bolt broke or just came out. I did push a straw through as a test and it goes all the way in, so if the bolt is broken it must be way down in there.

The parts catalog lists the missing part as "PIN, caliper, part #5253 000" but gives no other details. Anyhow, I need a replacement bolt - anyone know offhand the proper size, thread pitch, and length? (No ABS if that makes a difference.)

Addendum: It's probable the specific part is needed. Although at first glance it appears to be just a regular bolt it may not be. I checked with the local Jeep stealership and that part number is discontinued. It is available online though from various sources.

Listed as "in stock" at my local store, so it's likely the same somewhere reasonably close to you.

Seems to be the same for all XJ's from 90-01 and a bunch of other Chrysler vehicles, so should be widely available at any parts retailer.

I'd wager they just didn't tighten it up enough.. the torque spec on those bolts is super low.

Thanks, didn't think of checking with the local parts stores! My local Autozone is supposed to have it in stock also, will head out there to pick it up...

...and they had it in stock, took about 1 minute to install. Fortunately the new bolt/pin threaded right into place, and the kit came with two so there's a spare. While under there I also took the opportunity to grease the front-end fittings. I love quick 'n dirty repairs!
