Last August my a/c started acting up. It would blow nice cold air for a while, then begin to blow normal air. Then one day it stopped blowing cold air all together. It didn't need to be charged. I took it to a mechanic and he said the compressor wasn't kicking on. At first he thought it was the compressor, but after checking he found that there was no power getting to the compressor. $350 later he found a loose connection he said was near the steering column. Now it's doing it again. I really need A/C here in Texas, but don't want to take it to the mechanic. Anyone else run into this problem? If so, can you tell me where the connection is and what it looks like. I'm gonna try to fix this today. Thanks a lot.

So I went out to work on the A/C and found that the compressor is kicking on like it is supposed to and the A/C is blowing cold air. I drove to Autozone and halfway there it started blowing warmer air. When I got to Autozone they threw on a nifty checker on the A/C line and a warning light on the checker started going off. The guy said that it mean't that the A/C was overcharged. If the A/C is over charged would it still blow warm air sometimes, like when there is not enough coolant?? Thanks

If it is overcharged and you havent added any to it you can probably thank your $350 mechanic. I would take it back and tell them what you found out. They should have pressure checked it for you before and after filling it.

If its over charged it will shut itself down so it doesn't blow up... thus blowing warm air. I believe there should only be 2.2 lbs of freon in the system. Get a gauge and check it for yourself...Tj
