I have a 99 XJ that has a freon leak. I noticed it had a leak and wasn't working well last summer. We recharged it, it worked great for the rest of the summer. I had plans to take the dashboard out with my dad this past spring to fix the actual problem with the A/C, but then my car had to be taken into the shop the week we were going to do it due to not starting. We recharged the A/C again a few days ago. It seemed to be doing fine, and it's not that big of a deal to put more freon on it when it is needed. Now the A/C will work and be cold for awhile, then it won't work and will blow warmer air out. Then it'll start working fine again, then stop working. I haven't noticed any pattern to it working or not working.

Any ideas on what might be causing it to only work sometimes? I'm pretty sure I was told the evaporator core was what was causing the leak and that's what needed to be replaced. It still hasn't been replaced.
