So when I bought my jeep the A/C didn't work. After investigating I realized the the wires were cut/broken for the compressor. I wired those back up to what looked like an obvious connection, as the two ends were right there together. However it was two wires coming off the compressor into one wire going to the harness. Not so sure about that.

Anyway I vacuumed the system and charged it and immediately it was leaking out of an O-ring by dryer (back left engine bay). So I replaced that O-ring and repeated. This time it held the charge, so I started it and turned the a/c on. Compressor kicked on for maybe 1-2 seconds then a loud burst and rush of gas came out of the engine bay. I look and it blew both lines to the compressor clean off the spring loaded snap connections. I'm at a loss for what to check to fix that. Is it possible that the compressor over compressed and didn't cycle like it's supposed to?

Its not a must fix but I would like to have a/c out on the trails where high speed air movement isn't an option. Thanks for any help.

Lot of variables here...could have high amounts of mosture/air in the system, which wouldnt compress the same as refrigerant. Not sure if these have a high pressure switch but if so you need to check it. Wiring sounds correct. Id pull your line sets off and blow them out well.
