A/C Issues 200 XJ Classic
MACherokee, looks like your advice worked wonders. Didn't think that tiny shim would make that much of a difference. Sat at a drive thru line for about 40 minutes and it cooled like a champ. Now I've got to start saving for an new compressor. Any ideas on a good place to get a quality piece. I'm not big on the ones sold by the regular auto parts stores. I've had some negative experiences. I still need to check on the pressure for leaks. I suspect the low side still leaks. Thanks again!
Ha, ha, ha, ha! Actually it was a snow cone place. Thought I'd pat myself on the back for being smart enough to come on here and ask questions and read. I'll have another one in honor of all those who chimed in today or tomorrow. Yeah, they are that good, plus yesterday was 94 degrees! Not scorching by any means but hot enough for a nice cone, hot cheetos-n-cheese, and nachos for the ole lady. Worth the wait and good test for ac! It was actually a short line but people ordering a lot. There were only 7 cars plus walking traffic, place is busy. I've seen about 12-15 vehicles in line waiting to buy from this place plus walking traffic waiting out in the heat. Property owner next to the business put up a "don't block the driveway" sign!
I've been doing some research and it seems that I can buy the clutch hub pretty cheap online. I'll probably do that and see if it keeps going strong. Beats paying $200-$300 for a reman compressor plus a bunch of other stuff. I've never really had much luck with reman ac compressors from pep boys, autozone, and orileys. They usually crap out after installation.
