Will a Grand Cherokee compressor and clutch be the same as what's on my Cherokee (if both are 4.0 equipped)?

 

I don't know if the GC pump will fit or not. But, Try spaying some WD40 behind the AC pulley and see if that helps any. At least that will tell you for sure that it is coming from that. Just make sure not to spray you belt.

So I fixed it a bit ago, but I didn't get around to posting it then, but the noise was actually coming the pulley in the bracket I replaced ($40 at the local JY). Was super happy and relieved I could take the $200 compressor back to the parts store.

I was told mine is the A/C Compressor as I was getting a terrible growling noise on any setting except Vent. Apparently the A/C compressor is activated on all other modes of heater control. is that correct?

For now, I disconnected it so have no air and no noise. I live in Victoria, BC Canada and I do not think there is a place here to repair compressor, I may try and locate a used one. Pricey things.

 

Clutch gap adjustment.
Adjusted by replacing spacer (washer) under clutch.
Sometimes there are 2 washers, you need to remove one of them.
Find out specs and measure distance.
It can be crooked clutch disk. Bend it or replace.
