Default A/C compressor matches at junkyard

I need an ac compressor for my 1998 xj and I was wondering if there were any other years besides 1997 and up that would match compressors because they are hard to come by in these parts.

I found plenty in the earlier years and I found a 97 2.5 liter with a compressor and a 94 with a compressor in it.

There are also some newer grand cherokees also

I would not trust a junk yard A/C compressor.

Exactly, because it is not just a matter of changing the compressor. There are multiple parts that need to be changed to be sure that the system will function properly. Just pulling the old comp off and bolting on another is almost ensuring another failure.

If you do not wish to fix the A/C, you can get an A/C delete pulley from NAPA.

If you put one back on be careful, those long bolts like to strip the threads out of the aluminum comp. bracket.
