Default shaking problem on lifted lifted cherokee

Ok so I bought a 96 cherokee with a 3in skyjacker lift, wasn't running when I got it (wouldn't start) guy I bought it from said it needed an ecm.... he was wrong it was the spark plugs ( duma$$).. anyway so I got this thing running today, spark plugs, new ecm, and 4wd shaft. Took it to the gas station and on my way as soon as I hit 40 the jeep got this violent shake..... really ring bad, like to the point I thought the steering wheel was going to fall off... my question is obvoius, WHY? Ok so I think it has something to do with the steering cause the steerig wheel jerked with it, also I noticed that I have alot, like put your had @ 12 and from 1030 to 300 I get nothing. I don't think it has a.drop pitman arm for the steering... could that be the prob?

Drop pitman arm may not be necessary on 3 inches of lift. Start by getting an alignment, and checking to make sure your track bar and drag link are sitting parallel to each other. It may be that you need a track bar drop bracket or an adjustable t-bar that might not have been included in skyjacker's lift.

Also, search "death wobble" on the forum. You will find all sorts of severe steering issues already addressed.

dont think its death wobble, alot of people think they have it but really dont. if your getting vibs, first thing to do is, well since ur rig had some problems from the start, make sure you have a proper alignment, make sure all your front end steering components are properly greased, make sure your tires are properly balanced (and the rims are free of any packd snow/mud or anything) definitely check your ujoints in the rear drive shaft and change them out, if you still get vibs after doin all that get/make a tcase drop can be found for less then $30 and making one is pretty simple and they are simple to install. you can also try to get some rear axle shims u should only need 2-3* shims. all that should take care of your vibs, but deff do all this first before anything else

Yeah I guess I could have used a diffrent word other then vib, it feels/sounds like the tires are shaking left to right very violently, it sounds like I hit some nasty train tracks, over and over and over...... and over im gonna stick it on jacks tomorrow and check it out

My 96 Cherokee did the same thing when i first got it, I went out and bought a new trac bar, and got the tires aligned and it doesn't have any problems with that now...
