a/c charge help
I feel dumb, but I bought a hose with guage and a can of 134a at tractor supply to try to revive my a/c and the hose will not lock on the fill port on the a/c system line. It slips on, if I force it it sprays refrigerant out from the can. Line was replaced due to a deer hit but it looks right. Am I doing something wrong?

You have two different size lines, one large and one that is smaller. You need to connect to the large somewhere, mine is close to the firewall. That is the low pressure line and is the fill side for adding Freon. You might have used the small line and that is the high pressure side and you are lucky to be able to still your hands. I have heard stories of explosions from trying to use the small for filling. You also need the engine running and a/c turned on.

I know which line to hook to, it is not attaching positively to it. It is the right diameter, just not sealing, or not going far enough onto the connection. I appreciate your help everyone. It thought that it should be R134A being a 98' model. It has short cycled ever since last fall when it had a deer hit and the grill and condensor core were replaced. I am just now getting around to doing something with it. Issue is it cools properly for around 10 minutes, then warms up, plus the compressor is short cycling. Thanks!
