Default A/C Bypass Bracket???

I am looking to ditch my a/c compressor. I have looked online and chatted with dorman and some other online sellers no luck. Unfortunatley my 2001 XJ sport is not supported by manufacturers. I did a search on the forum either I found no solution or old posts not answered. Can anyone help

If I followed right this was posted up for 87-90 Jeeps. Idk about 2000. The earlier tension the belt with the power steering pump.....

>>> AC Bypass/Idler pully. (unconfermed) > Get an AC bracket from a 92, go to NAPA to pick up a Dorman AC bypass pulley for a 92 and newer. NAPA Part# 660-1819. The belt size remains the same. You need to use the pulley spacer that comes with in the hardware bag, it moves the pulley out about an 1/8" so that it lines up perfectly with the rest of the stock pulleys.<<<

I don't know why this would not work. I use it on my 99 and I am pretty sure the AC bracket is identical?

This. Rockauto lists that exact Dorman part as fitting a 2000 Cherokee, and nothing changed from 2000 to 2001.

There is supposedly a change from 2000 to 2001. Doorman and Morris both said that when I contacted them. I agree that there doesn't appear to be a difference. I guess I will have to buy one that looks like it will fit and they it out. Just wanted to get another set of eggs on it before I tear it all apart. This is my daily driver. Thanks for the dead

Pick up an A/C bypass belt. The guide for routing the belt is a sticker located on the underside of the hood. Route the belt according to the instructions for the A/C bypass.

Good luck (:

I think I might still have the old squeaky one I replaced on my 99 awhile back. If you pay postage I would be glad to give it to you to try first.

I had one on my '00 for a second till I fixed my air. Part # at Napa NOE 6601928 Thought you were just reading it wrong but I looked and at the Napa site it said '96 to '00. Which also seems a little weird because my '96 A/C compressor is different then the one on my '00. And as stated earlier not aware of any differences between '00 and '01. Also the A/C compressor I put on my '00 will work on '97 to '01. At least according to Napa. I have to figure it would work. But.

Is there any benefit to deleting the AC? I haven't used AC in a jeep since I've owned them, mainly because it never worked.

Does deleting it affect the heater or anything?

All it does is let you remove the compressor from the engine bay. Ac not working effects the function of defrost as well as the ac.

Just put dorman p/t #34237 - A/C bypass pulley in my '01 cherokee 4.0. used the belt I had on originally. Works like a dream. Listing are wrong. This DOES fit an '01 and you do NOT need a smaller belt. This solution is awesome.

This review is from: Dorman 34237 HELP! Air Conditioning Bypass Pulley (Automotive)
This says that it would not fit my 2001 Jeep Cherokee, yet it fits great and I am very happy I took the chance.
