Default Buying 92 XJ

I am looking at trading for a 92 Cherokee Sport and have some questions.. Sorry this is going to be long so I ask most of it at once.. This is what I know about the jeep as of now.
92 Jeep Cherokee Sport
4.0 L HO
Lifted 5"
33" AT's
5 Spd
Manual Xfer case
Manual Windows
2 front fog lights
Has been off road rig for about 5yrs so body is a little beat up but not to bad..
Engine was serviced about 6 mo ago when it was parked as well

Needs:
Rear pass light
Motor Mounts - has one other are starting to wear
New wheel stud and lug nut
New longer brake lines if used for hard 4x4

Known Probs:
front Axle Shift not working
small Oil Leak
Squeaky Belt
Rear Diff drips gear oil once in a while
Difficult to get into reverse on occasion due to motor mount.
Wiring for accesories needs work
Runs hot sometimes
Hood needs adjusting to open correctly, opens but is difficult
Body beat up
Interior blinker lights dont work, blinkers work, indicator inside doesnt
Cracked Windshield
Oil Pressure gauge no worky
Drivers side door finiky
Rear Hatch needs prop to stay open

And I am trading him my:
88 BMW 325
4 dr
auto
power everything
sunroof

Needs:
Gas tank re sealed

Known probs:
Runs rich

Ok So on to the questions:
-> How to fix DW? Tires have never been rotated or balanced nor has it had an alignment
-> How hot is running hot? It usually runs 180ish and when on trail in 4lo or on highway around 220ish. Has new radiator
-> Is this a good trade? Yes..No?
-> Also on this axle shift up front. The front diff is welded but he said there was a vacuum motor up there and he replaced it with a hand shifter? Now only the drivers side will engauge in 4x4.. How to fix that?

This is going to be an on road/off road rig. Will be my DD but like to go off the pavement some times.. I can fix the minor things by a trip to the local U pull but need some expert advice on this..

its just me but i'd kejep the bmw. you should be able to find one in alittle shape to trade for. mine is an 89 all power and leather and the only thing that don't work on it is the air, has a leak, and i traded my 85 mustang for it. so there are plenty of them out there just keep your eyes open. but its your car.

Forgot to mention I am also getting a 74 Winchester Model 70 .243 along with it.. Not sure if its worth anything but I dunno.. I am thinking about it. I am just not sure on the BMW I mean the inside is like showroom condition.. I just dont really have the desire to fix it.. I have a 88 Suzuki Sami now and love it but want something like it with more power.. Answer to that is the Cherokee. So you think the jeep is in to bad of shape for the BMW?

not a bad lookin wheeler but the bemer looks like a better dd. thats just my 2 cents. like i said if you can fix the xj for little of nothing or if you can fix it yourself and its what you want to do go for it.

I'd skip the jeep as a trade for that beemer..Beemer is in way better condition..jsut some thoughts..

The tranny shifting hard into reverse has nothing to do with the motor mounts..It leaks in many places and need plenty of seal work, Oil leak could be many things..It runs hot so possible radiator issue or head gasket issue...If the only thing wrong was motor issues I'd say go for it since a motor swap is simple enough..That jeep has entirely to many issues not to mention it's beat all to hell and is worth maybe $500 IMHO. The jeep has wiring issues, the front axle was likely welded to try and rig a fix, the vacuum issue of a hand shifter to try and get it to work wow..All I can say is that's a parts jeep and nothing more IMHO or a cheapio cause it's gonna need lots and lots of work and not worth it for that beemer...That wheel stud isssue means a new wheel bearing/hub assembly...Wow I could go on and on...Walk away from that jeep and look for one that is stock and never wheeled and build it up yourself. You will probably invest the same amount just modifying as you would just to get this one in usable condition.

I don't know what would scare me the most what you know or what your don't know..I'd imagine once you dive into the wiring issues you will likely find some nasty gremlins..That's a jeep that's been wheeled and wheeled hard and not taken care of IMHO..Sorry I just can't seem to stop..
