Busted transmission lines
I was off roading yesterday, and I bottomed out the suspension many times while driving. The Jeep Cherokee is a 1991 Laredo. When we got out of the Jeep, the 2 transmission lines running along the oil pan were crushed and leaking badly. I lost approximately 3 quarts before I bypassed the cooler and cut the tranny lines and ran a rubber hose between them to get home. Why did the bump stops not work? The vehicle is stock with no lift. I don't want this to happen again as we love to off road in Colorado. Any help would be helpful.....
The whole jeep is almost 20 years old, springs, etc. are probably wore out and letting things travel further then what they should. i had a line get pinched on mine, but it was caused by an accident caused by my stupidity [obstacle caught wheel and yanked whole axle assembly to the one side].
