How does it shift if you pull the lever to 1-2, and then shift it up manually?
If it shifts that way, the first place to look is under the passenger side dash for the use for the Transmission Control Unit.

Check the fuse and it's socket. With the key On, you should have power to both sides of the fuse.

You are gonna need to get your hands on a digital meter to do much with that Renix Jeep. (It's ECU has no memory Btw. "does not reset"). That TPS, check/adjust is a bit tricky, but you can get help here. (it has allot to do with shifting). Is the tranny fluid up, and pink?
