The rubber piece is simply pushed up into the metal part, but it is not easy to get out. The metal part is made into the unibody and you will have to cut it off, but don't do that. With that cut off your coil spring can come off when the suspension is flexed out.

Do you have all shocks disconnected so the axle will drop all the way?

Coil spring compressor would be your best bet. Any auto parts store that does the loan a tool program will have them.

I cheated and used a small bottle jack to push the axle down a little more when I did the first 4 inch lift. Had to get the compressors for the upgrade to the 6.5 springs.

I had to use 2 of them and it worked out great for me. Make sure you streach it to grab the whole spring. Did you unhook your sway bar?

Are your swaybar endlinks discoed? Try disconnecting the LCAs from the axle. Thats how I work on my suspension. Do not use a spring compressor.

Propane torch and a can of WD does wonders. Also a BFH and a jack handle on a breaker bar works. Combine those things and a whole lot of "UMPH" and you'll break-em lose. Spring compressors can do a lot of damage. Wish I had a pic of my buddys nose to show you.
