Supposed to be, all 95 and up exploders had 31 spline shafts. Mustang and ranger got the 28 spline. Done get these. 31 spline shafts can be swapped in, but its only 100 bucks to find an explorer One. Ive seen some early 90's explorers with the 28 spline shafts, so watch out. Ive never seen a disc brake 8.8 from an explorer have 28 spline shafts tho. Ive seen a few. I use that as my guide at the jy. Look for one with the 4.10 and Trac loc. The tag will say 4L10. Or 3.73 is 3L37. If theres no L, its not a posi. I have the 8.8 with the Ford Trac loc with 33" tires now, it kicks a$$.

I've used to be into turning old crown vic police cars into hot rods before I got into Jeeps and I've had 5 8.8's with the factory trac loc. My last vic made 435hp to the wheels and that 8.8 never once gave me any problems. I really want to try one in my jeep but the only one I have is fill width from a vic

Are the fittings on the 95 + XJ brake booster and master cylinder the same as the fittings on the '88?

Wait for a second opinion cause I'm not sure, but I think they are. However, I think a '96+ is a bolt-in upgrade. Can someone verify if that's right?

I'm pretty sure the stock vics had 28 spines with 2.92 gears and the p71's had 31 spines with 3.27's and a trac loc

4.10 gears and i love it. I'm currently saving for a locker to regear the front. Going from 3.55 gears, it was like dropping in a v8. If you don't wanna rrgear front, check what they are and get an 8.8 to match.

My 8.8 I've swapped had 31 spline shafts , limited slip and 4:10's ... Of course disk breaks ..... Easiest way for me to find this axle was lookin on the door axle codes On explorer .... If axle code is D2 pull it cus u got all the goodies just like I did .... Ran me 157 bucks and tax at jy .... So worth it !!
