Im working on 89 half doors for my 93. They seem identical, though i haven actualy put them on yet. Anyone have any ideas for popping the door pins out of the hinges? I have two sets of hinge halves, so I figure using pull pins to swap between doors would be great. I have about half the old door hinges off the donor, but some wont budge with press, oil, and pounding.
I chose this route to prevent the sloppy door syndrome. My doors still line up and seal and I've been doing this for two years.
They lift off and drop on easy just requires a few seconds to snug up the bolts. Its worth it to me.

I think you should leave the pins alone, I cut a slot leading to the top bolt on all hinges. Allows for loosening the bolt and then just lifting it off, after you pull the other two bolts out. I run my tube doors with just one bolt on each hinge during the summer. I run two bolts in each for spring and fall when the doors are off and on a lot. Then during winter I put all three in.

agreed you need to leave the top pin in, but I recommend both pins

That writeup did answer my origional question, though. It mentions that the pins are not just standard roll pins, and have a 'top' and 'bottom' ends. Explains why some were easy and some were impossible. I can still do this, and it would allow me to have the alognment set up for the half doors and the normal doors. Still Im not completely sold on this.

You did point out one thing I hadnt realized. If the pins can slide out easily thee will be slop and misalignment. This would reduce the advantages of having removable pins.
Hmm..
You have a link for your tube doors? Might be worth looking at.

The doors are pretty damn heavy - even more reason to leave the pins attached. It's the only way you'll be able to put them back on by yourself

A bastard pack is made by taking a leaf pack from an under the axle setup and using those leafs under our xj's main leaf. Under the axle leafs have a lot more arch in them which in turn will give you added lift. Most ppl use s10 or dakotas bc the leafs are somewhat soft and are the same width as a Cherokee's.

SO i bought my 90 two door XJ already lifted and im tryin to figure out what all the guy did to it. i think he did a bastard pack, its all coil up front and i think he got about 4.5" of lift, its sits pretty tall on 30" MK2s. i have noticed that its missing the front sway bar and the rear leaf springs are wrapped with chicken wire (not clamps) does this sound like a typical budget lift?
