Budget Builds: What Junkyard Parts Will Fit Cherokee?
I love this thread. Especially with dukie throwing in pointers and tips. I found out all I need to do for the durango steering box and how much better some of the parts are off the gc as in the tie rod.

Planning a 3-4 on lift on my 90 XJ. I can get 83-97 t-bird coils easily, but what year S-10 rear leafs will I need (no Dakota's in my local JY at this time).
Also going with new shocks, so will need to tell the parts guys anything specific other than it's lifted? The parts guys I deal with are not the sharpest tool in the shed, if you get my meaning...

Is there anything i could do that would be the same as a lift kit? Would bigger front coils and bastard packed leafs in the back be the same?

In other words they make search features for a reason. There's so much information about how to do what you asked on this site (and on this thread) and on the internet in general you could read for days and not have to read the same thing twice. Sometimes you need to do some searching on your own before posting up questions that have already been answered numerous times. Start by reading this whole thread, probably half of it is JY lift related.
I have the WJ rear LCA's to use on the front of my XJ....my ? is...can I use these without upgrading the UCA's as well? If I can..what are the effects? IF NOT...is there a JY solution for the UCA's? Thanks for y'alls time.

Ok, im wanting to do a bastard pack for my XJ, and i've found some 1995 2wd S-10 leafs and some from a newer 4x4 Ford Explorer (maybe 2000+) and im wondering which would be the better choice or does it matter? They are both under the axle mount and I was thinking since the Explorer is a little newer the springs would be in better shape. Im sorry if im beating a dead horse here, but i've read this entire thread and done some searching and haven't really found a clear answer to my question. Thanks!

I no it's not a junkyard part or what not but it's a cheap but redneck way to get that extra inch or so of clearance. Go get 2 hockey pucks, and drill a hole in the middle of the 2. use them as 1 inch leaf blocks.
I don't know if it's legal or not but a kid at my school did it to his blazer so he wouldn't have to cut fenders for 33's
