I was looking at some Durango's in the JY this fall and it seems in 2000 they went to a rack and pinion steering setup, so your options are 98 or 99 only.

Besides good advice, that's some good advice! lol

I agree with not messing around with a used radiator. There's other problems as well, such as buildup in the tubes, bent fins, or a leak that won't show until you put an additive in (happened to mine without replacement. I'd recommend against coolant additives of any kind.)

I'd never heard of radiator barn. $92.23 shipped is good, as far as I've seen lately.

The pre '91 radiators can be serviced with some little welding capabilities.
I have unwelded one of the headers and used a wiper blade stick to clean out the clogged lines. Works like new.

Body/Interior/Armor:
1. 97+ mirrors are direct bolt in to older XJ's and allow you to fold them in on tight trails.
2. MJ/2 Door XJ Bucket seats = tilt forward, bolt in
3. ZJ gas tank skid = can be modified to fit 97+
4. GM power antennas replace your broken XJ's with little modification
5. XJ '97+ doors onto older cherokees = one piece windows and better mirrors
6. XJ overhead console = most commonly found in '00-01 or higher trim level, provides space for switches etc.
7. '97+ center console = can be made to fit '96 and older, gives you cupholders!
8.'96-00 Ford Explorer hatch shocks = lift your hatch about 3" lower but are beef (ever see one that doesn't work?) need modification for '97+
9. OEM skid plates (Front, Tranny, T-case, gas tank, found on "up-country" package XJ's)
10. OEM swing-out tire carriers, get the bumper with it, found mainly on '84-'90 XJ's

*feel free to ask questions about any of these mods

thanks for info on mirrors and doors for older xj's. I was also wondering about the center console too. I have the 92 xj and it needs new front doors.

this list is awesome! i had my head on a swivel at the jy after reading it. best thing for a college student (or anyone for that matter) on a budget build

How did this work for you ? did this bolt in place of the stock xj shackles?
Im looking to put some longer shackles on my xj when i put my lift on thanks
