broken shock mount.....need advice
the passenger side lower rear shock mount twisted off while remove old shock. went to remove the nut holding the shock on and bam the stud twisted right off.
need advice on the easiest repair. should i just grind off the original mount, drill out the axle bracket and weld in a new shocking mount bolt/stud? any tips or advise is welcome.

I broke the nut off my rear lower mount. I just drilled and taped for a bolt to go right in the stud. Depending on how much was broke off, just get a new stud welded right on there.

BOTH of mine broke off b/c the previous owner/mechanic impacted the living hell out of the bolts. Anyway, I ended up cutting off what was left of the old stud, then drilled through the back out to a 1/2" hole. Started with a 1/8" pilot hold and worked up from there using plenty of cutting oil. The back of the stud is kind of domed shaped, I believe it was a hot interference fit, then swaged over. I inserted a 1/2" gr8 bolt through the back and welded the head to the bracket.
This took a long time (drilling hardened steel), but I feel it was the strongest solution.
