Hey guys,
I have a problem, I broke my front axle while trying to press the u joints!
So now I need a new shaft for the passenger side only. Can I get any year shaft or do I have a narrow range of years that I can choose from. Kind of want to stay with the same axle, as I bought new u joints already. Also any hints on pressing u joints would be helpful so I don't do that again! The problem is the flange on the axle is tilted so the ball joint press does not sit aligned on it, I think that is how I broke it. Thanks.

 

You should be able to get any shaft out of the XJ dana 30.

 

Later XJ's, after '99 I believe, use a bigger u-joint and can be swapped in place of your smaller shafts but replace both sides

 

Pre 94 and older have the small u joints 95 to 01 have the bigger u joints, some 94s have the bigger ujoints also my sport does,but yeah you can get any other year it will fit long as its the same spline count

All U-joint equipped ZJ shafts will contain the larger 760/297 joints.

All ABS equipped XJ's will have the larger 760/297 joints.
